ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – A Jefferson High School senior who broke his neck during a state wrestling championship last week will undergo a second surgery, according to his father.
Dominic Haines was injured at the Georgia High School Association State Championships in Macon last Thursday. While the first surgery put a cage around Dominic’s spine to help with the pressure, the second surgery this Thursday will re-fuse his vertebrae, his father, Keith Haines, said.

“I hate seeing my boy in so much pain,” he wrote in a social media update. “If the old saying, ‘What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger’ is true, I better watch out when he’s back in action, because he’s going to be a machine.”
