Expert informs Rockford caretakers how to better tend to those with Parkinsons [Video]

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rock Valley College (RVC) hosted a meeting for caretakers and friends to learn how to better care for people who suffer from Parkinson’s Disease.

Experts from the American Parkinson Disease Association of Illinois spoke during the informational session.

meeting attendees learned more about the seriousness of Parkinson’s, the benefits of physical therapy and proven programs through exercises that can increase mobility and independence.

Physical Therapist Devin McCulloch explained how important the session is for those who care for people with Parkinson’s.

“I think having that village is so important for people, one because the more you feel comfortable with the people you’re reaching out to, the more likely you are to reach out to them,” said McCulloch. “Whether that’s someone else that is struggling with the disease or even your neurologist.”
