2 common ways employees STEAL from small businesses

Over my long career as a financial controller I have seen many different shapes of employee fraud. And it doesn’t surprise me at all to know that 75% of employees admit to have stolen from the company at least once.

In today’s video I’ll show you common ways employees steal from your business. These are real stories based on my 1.5 decades working at a controller.

So if you are a business owner or work in accounting, this video will help you catch things you normally wouldn’t see or pay attention to.

One of the most common ways employees steal is Skimming

The name skimming comes from the way you skim the fat off the surface of a bowl of soup. Skimming in Finance is stealing cash from the company before the cash hits the books and Records.

IFRS 16 Lessor Accounting Example 2 | Finance Lease [Video]

When a lessor accounts for a finance lease under IFRS 16, the lessor must derecognize the asset from its statement of financial position and record a lease receivable upon commencement of the lease. If the lessor is a manufacturer or dealer, then the lessor must also record sales revenue and cost of goods sold upon commencement of the lease. Both the sales revenue and cost of goods sold must be reduced by the present value of the unguaranteed residual value. The lessor will then recognize interest revenue throughout the lease term. At the end of the lease, the lessor will restore the asset to its statement of financial position. If the actual residual value turns out to be less than the unguaranteed residual value, the lessor records a loss for the difference.— Edspira is the creation of Michael McLaughlin, who went from teenage homelessness to a PhD.
